La Petite Sirène conte avant tout la tentative désespérée d'unir deux mondes que tout oppose : le monde marin et le monde terrestre, le monde païen et le monde chrétien, le monde de l'amour pour ce qui est différent et celui de l'amour normé. Aujourd'hui, l'Orient et l'Occident sont de ces mondes en mal de compréhension mutuelle. D'où ce choix de m'inspirer des arts décoratifs européens et de les mâtiner de merveilleux pour représenter le monde sous-marin, et de puiser dans les infinies richesses de l'art islamique pour décrire ce monde terrestre auquel la Petite Sirène aspire tant...

Above all, The Little Mermaid tells a story of a desperate attempt to unite two worlds set in stark contrast : the underwater world and the earthly world, the pagan world and the christian world, love that embraces differences and love that is submissive to cultural norms. Nowadays, Oriental and Occidental worlds are of those that lack mutual comprehension. Which inspired me to explore european decorative arts and combine it to a fairytale realm to represent the sea world. I then drew on the endless riches of islamic art to describe the land the Little Mermaid longs for...
