Le Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ a été créé en 2006 par l'architecte et chercheur Jana Revedin, avec la Cité de l'Architecture & du Patrimoine comme partenaire culturel. Il distingue chaque année cinq architectes qui partagent les principes du développement durable et d'une approche participative de l'architecture aux besoins des sociétés, au nord comme au sud de la planète. Le Global Award for Sustainable Architecture a été placé sous le haut patronage de l'UNESCO en 2010.

Le thème retenu pour la 14^e session du Global Award est : « Architecture et nature : une nouvelle synergie ? »

Les lauréats du Global Award 2021 sont : Teresa Moller (Chili), Gloria Cabrai & Solano Benitez (Paraguay), José Cubilia (Paraguay),. Severiano Porto (Brésil) et Richard Sennett (Royaume-Uni).

Founded in 2006 by architect and scholar Jana Revedin with the Cité de l'architecture & du patrimoine as a cultural partner, the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture™ annually recognizes five architects who share the principles of sustainable development and a participatory architectural approach to society's needs, in both the global North and the global South. Since 2010, the Global Award has been placed under the High Patronage of UNESCO.
