Margaret Elaine Elgin describes her poetry in The Unmerciful as beautiful, yet "fairly grim." Her words were written after "having suffered a stroke in response to being raised in an abusive environment, and of my still existing in that environment, sadly."
She adds, "The obstacles I had to overcome were probably my own feelings of poetry being special to me, and of the poetry itself being criticized and/or demeaned."
Her highly personal poems come straight from the heart.
Originally from the Los Angeles area, Margaret Elaine Elgin now lives in Oakland, California. This is her fourth book.
