ABOUT THE AUTHOR

  • Dale Breckenridge Carnegie (originally Carnagey until 1922 and possibly somewhat later) (November 24, 1888 - November 1, 1955) was an American writer and lecturer and the developer of famous courses in self-improvement, salesmanship, corporate training, public speaking and interpersonal skills. Born in poverty on a farm in Missouri, he was the author of How to Win Friends and Influence People, first published in 1936, a massive bestseller that remains popular today.
  • Dale Carnegie (1888-1955) described himself as a "simple country boy" from Missouri but was also a pioneer of the self-improvement genre. He authored several self-improvement titles as Public Speaking for Success, but is best known for How to Win Friends and Influence People.

    ABOUT THE BOOK
  1. Dale Carnegie, author of the legendary How to Win Friends and Influence People, began his career as the premier "life coach" of the twentieth century by teaching the art of public speaking. Public speaking, as Carnegie saw it, is a vital skill that can be attained through basic and repeated steps.
  2. His classic volume on the subject appeared in 1926 and was revised twice-in shortened versions-in 1956 and 1962. This 2006 revision-edited by a longtime consultant to Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc., and the editor in charge of updating How to Win Friends and Influence People-is the definitive one for our era.
  3. This book is considerated as similar to four complete self-help classics: Acres of Diamonds by Russell H. Conwell, As a Man Thinketh by James Allen, A Message to Garcia by Elbert Hubbard, and The Art of Public Speaking by Stephen Lucas.
