Morzine-Avoriaz

Entre Léman et Mont-Blanc, Morzine cultive un charme, une âme, appelez cela comme vous voulez, unique dans les Alpes.

Dans cet environnement montagnard, dont les plissements sont consécutifs à la poussée de la chaîne du Mont-Blanc, les brises du Léman ont soufflé une certaine douceur de vivre, une légère nonchalance qu'on appelle ici "la molle du lac".

Touchant aux frontières de la Suisse, Morzine a aussi une longue tradition d'échanges avec les villages du Valais tout proche, et les noms de famille retrouvés des deux côtés de la frontière en témoignent.

D'en-çà ou d'en-là comme on dit ici, les habitants sont tous un peu cousins. Histoire, traditions et montagne sont présents chaque jour dans la vie de ce village, qui a su s'ouvrir au tourisme sans perdre son identité.

In this mountain environment, where the folded relief is a consequence of the thrust of the Mont-Blanc mountain chain, the Léman breezes have breathed a certain sweetness into the rhythm of life along with a slight nonchalance known here as the `molle du lac' (lake listlessness). Touching the Swiss borders, Morzine also has a long tradition of exchanges with the nearby Valais villages, and the family names to be found on both sides of the border bear this out. `D'en-ça' or `d'en-la' as they say around here (from here or from there), the inhabitants are all cousins of some kind. History, tradition and mountains are all present in the everyday life of this village, which, whilst opening itself up to tourism, has managed not to lose its own identity.
