Iván fue capturado cuando era un bebé y llevado a Estados Unidos como atracción para los clientes de un centro comercial. Conforme pasaron los años, la curiosidad de los clientes se convirtió en lastima y en indignación por la situación del gorila. Las personas ejercieron presión hasta que encontraron una mejor forma de vida para esta amable criatura. Desde el Congo hasta Estados Unidos, y de una atracción local a un símbolo nacional del bienestar de los animales, Iván, el gorila del centro comercial, recorrió una gran distancia, tanto en kilómetros como en el impacto que tuvo sobre otros. Ésta es su historia.

Iván was captured as a baby and taken to the United States to be a shopping-mall attraction. As the years passed, the customers' curiosity turned to pity and indignation over the gorilla's situation. People pushed until a better life was found for the friendly creature. From the Congo to the US, from a local attraction to a national symbol for animal welfare, Iván the shopping-mall gorilla traveled a great distance--both literally and in the impact he had on others. This is his story.
