Céleste Boursier-Mougenot

Le pavillon est ouvert aux éléments, il évoque au sein des Giardini, les « folies » des parcs romantiques du XVIII^e siècle.

Il devient le théâtre d'une apparition, un écosystème expérimental produisant un état de nature inédit. Il s'agit de s'emparer des systèmes de contrôle des êtres vivants et de leurs déplacements, pour composer une oeuvre poétique où l'humain sensible peut habiter des espaces de liberté et de beauté déviante.

Sous la verrière envolée du pavillon et dans les allées arborées, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot déploie une chorégraphie alchimiste de trois arbres mobiles qui se déplacent lentement à partir des variations du flux de leur sève, de leur métabolisme interne, de leur sensibilité aux passages de l'ombre à la lumière. Ces chimères, hybridation de la machine et de la nature, du végétal et de l'humain, sont sous-tendues par une vision animiste des arbres, et ravivent notre goût pour le merveilleux des jardins maniéristes italiens.

Cerné des arbres enracinés qui génèrent l'accord harmonique à partir des courants électriques basse tension, le Pavillon Francia, se transforme, en ilot organique et sonore, en un environnement au sein duquel les visiteurs peuvent se poser, se reposer dans un continuum qui invite au rêve et au déploiement de l'imaginaire.

Open to the elements in the midst of the Giardini, the pavilion conjures up the « follies » of the romantic parks of the 18th century. It has become the theatre of an apparition, an experimental ecosystem revealing a state of nature unlike any other. Commandeering systems used for controlling living beings and their movements, it forms a poetic work offering humanity living spaces marked by liberty and unconventional beauty.

Under the skylight stripped of its glass and along its wooded walkways, Céleste Boursier-Mougenot offers the choreographic alchemy of three trees moving slowly in time with their metabolism, variations in their sap flow and their sensitivity to light and shade. Behind these chimeras - these machine/nature hybrids - lies an animist vision of trees that rekindles our taste for the marvelousness of Italian Mannerist gardens.

Ringed with deep-rooted trees that generate harmonies with low-voltage electric current, the Francia pavilion is transformed into an organic island of sound, an environment allowing visitors to pause and relax : a continuum that is an invitation to dreaming and letting the imagination run free.
