All Things Mary provides reflections on all Scripture texts associated with celebrations in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary during the liturgical year, in addition to biblical texts presented in the Collection of Masses of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It honors the Mother of God as the exemplar of the Christian life by presenting an anthology of Marian reflections grounded in Scripture texts, litanies, and catechetical teaching about Mary. This book is designed to be used by individuals for private study and prayer and by ministers for study, prayer, and preaching. The goal of this book is to foster ordinary Marian spirituality as it flows from the Bible. An eight-part exercise is offered for each of the entries: (1) a title; (2) a footnote listing where a specific Scripture passage is used in Marian masses; (3) a text giving the notation for the biblical passage; (4) a few verses from the biblical text; (5) a two-paragraph reflection on the biblical text and its application to the Blessed Virgin Mary; (6) a second footnote identifying references to various post-Vatican II documents about Mary; (7) a journal/meditation question for personal appropriation of Mariology; and (8) a concluding prayer. ""Reading Mark Boyer's book is like studying the Bible with Mary as your guide. All Things Mary is a bouquet of beloved Scripture passages, insightful commentary, thoughtful journaling exercises, and prayer--a perfect tool for daily meditation."" --Paul Turner, Pastor, Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Kansas City, MO ""The pattern of Scripture, reflection, invitation to meditation in preparation for the liturgical celebration of a feast of Mary is once again the power of Father Mark's book on Mary. Even as a Protestant pastor I can find this book useful for prayer and liturgy and worship. The additional resources and appendices add to the depth of this book and so I highly recommend this book."" --Vernon Meyer, Pastor, Sun Lakes United Church of Christ, St. Louis, MO ""With the meticulousness of a seasoned scholar, Fr. Mark Boyer has here assembled all the biblical texts relating to Mary and used in the course of the Liturgical Year. This compendium is a veritable treasure trove both for those preparing homilies on Mary, and for ordinary devotees, seeking to deepen their prayerful devotion to Mary and to emulate her life as the exemplar par excellence of the Christian Way."" --Pauline Nugent, Professor of Classics and Biblical Hebrew, Missouri State University ""Fr. Boyer offers almost two hundred short meditations on biblical texts linked to Our Lady in the lectionary. Using the insights of patristic and modern biblical exegesis, he explores the richness of the Scriptures for a Marian theology that can nourish Christian life today."" --Harry Hagan, Associate Professor of Scripture, Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology Mark G. Boyer--a well-known author--has been writing books on biblical, liturgical, and devotional spirituality for thirty years. He has written sixty spirituality-based volumes that prompt the reader to recognize the divine in everyday life. This is his nineteenth Wipf and Stock title.
