Car l'artiste a laissé des indices derrière lui, de précieux témoignages documentés qui nous permettent aujourd'hui de présenter des oeuvres méconnues et inédites à l'Institut Giacometti. Vendues puis oubliées, perdues ou détruites, ces oeuvres dont le sort est souvent inconnu ont toutes leur propre histoire. Et si près d'un siècle nous sépare de cette période d'apprentissage et de recherche artistique du jeune Giacometti, la quête d'indices à travers les archives permettra que ces créations uniques ne soient pas oubliées.

In Search of Lost Works is an investigation on the traces of Alberto Giacometti's works from 1920 to 1935. Disappeared ? Not completely. For Alberto Giacometti left clues behind, precious documented testimonies that today allow us the opportunity to present little-known works or works that have never been shown, at the Institut Giacometti. Sold and then forgotten, lost or destroyed, these works, whose fate is often unknown, all have their own story. And though almost a century separates us from a young Giacometti's years of formation and artistic research, the quest for clues through the archives allows these unique creations not to be forgotten.
