She asked herself incessantly: "Where was the captain now? Had Mario met a horrible death at sea or was he alive?" She yearned to be held in his loving arms.

The captain's boat functioned as a charter fishing craft. The return of his boat Esperanza was long overdue. Linda had expected his phone call but it had not happened. She was alarmed, frantic.

The captain had worked hard to earn a living from the sea. He'd fallen madly in love with Linda. It was mutual. They were about to be engaged.
He knew she was the love of his life, always on his mind and in his heart. But lately, there had been misunderstandings that threatened the demise of their romance.

Before departing in his boat, he told her not to worry for he would dispel her concerns about their relationship as soon as he returned from an upcoming voyage to Tampa. In his absence, friends urged her to forget about him and find someone new. Linda wondered if she should.
