Les Graves has been running from his past until he finds Cedar Rapids and a respectable job at a bank. He even finds a bit of local fame as the local baseball team's star pitcher. But when his brother T. Z. comes to town with Neely, he knows there's going to be trouble. They're on the run with a bounty on T.Z.'s head, and need one more bank job before they high-tail it down to Mexico. Graves used to run with T.Z. and Neely, but now he has a good girl, a good job and a good reputation. Should he throw it all away to help T.Z. and Neely make one last score? Or turn his back on their scheme, and by doing so, send his brother to the gallows?

So when Fuller is accused of pulling a gun on one of the locals and shooting him in the back, Anna takes it upon herself to prove him innocent. Everyone assumes that Fuller is guilty, but Anna's instincts say otherwise. But who will listen to a woman on affairs of the law and justice? Anna slowly puts together the clues that someone did the shooting, but will she live long enough to prove it?
